UCMR 5 Testing
Criterion’s Lab Is Fully Approved for UCMR 5 Testing!
Criterion is one of the few labs in the Mid-Atlantic to be approved for all three methods (200.7, 537.1, and 533) for UCMR 5! Criterion met stringent application requirements and passed proficiency tests for the EPA’s UCMR 5 Laboratory Approval Program.
Criterion’s participation in UCMR 5 will provide Public Water Suppliers in our region with a local laboratory, meaning clients won’t need to ship samples to out-of-state labs. Criterion’s location and excellent service means clients will receive fast and reliable results.
Criterion also offers PFAS testing to the general public. Please visit our Drinking Water testing page for more information about PFAS testing packages!

The EPA’s Fifth Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5) includes 30 contaminants, 29 of which are a group of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances called PFAS. These synthetic chemicals are used in a wide range of consumer and industrial products. PFAS are found in the drinking water and blood of people across the United States and the world.
Between 2023 and 2025, the EPA mandates sample collection and analysis of drinking water from water suppliers nationwide. This data will provide the EPA with information about the severity and distribution of PFAS contamination in drinking water. See the EPA’s website for more information.
