The new City of Philadelphia lead paint disclosure law (Bill No. 100011-A, an ordinance) has a major glitch! People who complete the EPA’s Lead Renovator Dust Sampling Technician Course are supposedly qualified to do lead paint inspections and issue a “Lead Safe” certificate. Baloney! By the way, Criterion offers the EPA’s Lead Renovator Dust Sampling Technician Course and we are seeing a big increase in the number of people taking this course. If you’re going to get your training at Criterion for the purposes of complying with the Philadelphia lead law, we want you to stay after school. There we’ll teach you about the new Philly lead regs, and introduce you to the required sampling protocol, reporting certification and record keeping requirements.
If you try to comply with just the EPA’s Lead RRP Dust Sampling Technician, you may be compliant with the regs, but we advise you to increase your liability insurance.
