Lead
Lead is a much regulated, potentially toxic metal that is present in much of our built environment. Because of the serious health consequences, especially to children, monitoring potential sources of lead is critical. Drinking water, paint and soil can all contain toxic levels of lead.
Lead-in-Paint is recognized as a serious hazard. Criterion’s analytical methods include lead-in-paint, soil, surfaces, water and air. Criterion is accredited by the AIHA in Environmental Lead.
Because of the age and large amount of lead-based paint, the lead can spread to other areas due to “chalking” and peeling of lead paint and demolition of lead-painted surfaces. Knowing the extent of “lead spread” is the first and main component in protecting the health of building occupants.
Whether your concern is lead in paint, air, dust, soil and/or water, Criterion can accurately determine the lead content, as well as advise on regulatory concerns.
Whether you utilize Criterion’s Field Services Staff or you collect your own samples, Criterion can assist you with the important analytical step. We also can help with sampling equipment and media. These include:
- Personal Air Sampling Pumps (fees apply)
- Ghost Wipes for Surface Samples
- Filter Cassettes for Air Sampling
- Proper Water, Soil and Paint Collection Media
Government Agencies
In conjunction with our Field Services, your lead paint situation can be analyzed and answered, with report, in the field, including documentation compliant with your municipality or agency requirements.
Any agency mandated samples that require laboratory analysis can be quickly turned-around at our own laboratory. This usually means surface wipe samples, paint chip samples or soil samples.
Our Training Services can help certify you in many lead jobs, including dust sampling techniques.
