Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Criterion’s Asbestos and Lead Refresher courses are being offered via online teleconferencing and are approved by Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. Delaware is currently not accepting online refresher courses.

Criterion’s Initial classes will resume beginning June 22.  

The following is a list of teleconference courses Criterion is currently offering

  • Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Refresher (PA/NJ approved – also NY approved Effective June)
  • Asbestos Worker Refresher (PA/NJ approved – also NY approved Effective June)
  • Asbestos Building Inspector Refresher (PA approved)
  • Asbestos Management Planner Refresher (PA approved)
  • Lead Supervisor Refresher (PA approved)
  • Lead Worker Refresher (PA approved)

In order to qualify for the online refresher, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Have good internet access and be able to register/pay online in order to attend the class
  • Must provide an email address in order to receive the online class invite
  • Have audio/video capability
  • Be present for the entire session
  • If renewing NJ license, a copy of the license must be emailed to Criterion no later than 24 hours prior to course
  • Payment is required no later than 24 hours prior to class in order to receive the invite.
  • The entire course, including student participation, is being recorded.  By attending, student hereby understands and consents to being recorded as per state guidelines.
  • Because the class is being recorded, students must make sure there are no offensive items in the background
  • Must actively participate in classroom discussion
  • Criterion’s no smoking policy must be adhered to during active class time even if they are in their own home
  • Talking with anyone other than someone participating in the class will not be permitted. 
  • No phone calls, texting or internet surfing or any other distractions are allowed during class.
  • A copy of your most recent training certificate is required no later than 24 hours prior to course if you took your training with another provider.

Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry:

  • The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has approved Criterion to offer Lead and Asbestos refresher training via online teleconferencing platforms.

New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce:

  • The New Jersey Department of Health has approved Criterion to offer Asbestos refresher training via online teleconferencing platforms.
  • If students do not wish to or cannot participate in a teleconference and they need a permit extension, they must contact the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development at (609) 633-2158 before their permit expires.

DE Asbestos Licensing:

  • Delaware is providing deferment letters for asbestos workers and supervisors who cannot get retrained due to the COVID-19 Emergency.  Although Pennsylvania is approving training providers for virtual training, most Region III states, through the MAREC agreement, do not accept this method of training.
  • Those being granted this extension must carry a copy of the deferment letter and the expired training and badge in order to continue to work until such time as the Asbestos Licensing office indicates otherwise.  Please call (302) 739-5644 for questions regarding a permit extension.
