Criterion
Philadelphia Naval Shipyard
December 26, 2013
In 2013, Criterion was retained by Penn E&R to perform a Lead-Based Paint Inspection and an Asbestos Building Inspection of Building 57 at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard.
Criterion’s PA-Licensed Lead Building Inspector/Risk Assessor used an X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Spectrometer, providing a fast, non-destructive measurement of the lead content in paint and our final report listed recommendations per US Department of Housing and Development (HUD) and OSHA’s 29 CFR Part 1926.62 Lead Exposure in Construction, Interim Rule.
Criterion’s PA-Licensed Asbestos Building Inspector performed an asbestos survey following the EPA’s National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations and OSHA’s Construction Standard for Asbestos (29 CFR 1926.1101) to identify and document asbestos-containing materials for remediation prior to a planned renovation/demolition. Bulk samples collected during the survey were analyzed in our NVLAP-approved laboratory, and our comprehensive report listed specific locations and quantities of all building materials sampled.
