Criterion is now approved to provide the training for the LEAD SAFE MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR MULTIPLE DWELLINGS pursuant to N.J.A.C. 5:10-6.6(g)1 and N.J.A.C. 5:10-6.6(g)2. This course is MANDATORY to work in the State of NJ. It is offered immediately following the EPA course. If you are already EPA-Approved, you only need to come in at 4:00 for the NJ course. You must bring your EPA certificate if only taking the NJ course.
ASBESTOS Worker (Handler) Initial
(PA, NJ & NY Approved) 32 hours

This is a four-day training program designed to familiarize abatement workers with asbestos, its health effects, regulations and proper abatement procedures. It includes hands-on training involving respirator fit testing, glove bagging, work area preparation, decontamination and removal techniques.
ASBESTOS Worker (Handler) Refresher
(PA, NJ & NY Approved) 8 hours*
$150/person, 1-3 people/company * * $140/person, 4+ people/company
This course will review the major topics of the initial worker training. It will also update any changes in local, state or federal regulations and introduce state of the art abatement equipment and techniques. This course is required for continued certification.

ASBESTOS Contractor/Supervisor Initial
(PA, NJ & NY Approved) 40 hours

This is a five-day class inclusive of the worker’s training, providing additional information about contractor specifications, legal and insurance considerations, record keeping and supervisory techniques required for the successful completion of asbestos abatement projects.

This five-day class will provide you with information and skills needed to serve as the on-site representative of the building owner to oversee asbestos abatement work, ensuring performance is in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. ASBESTOS Building Inspector Initial
(PA Approved) 24 hours
$425/person, 1-3 people/company * * $400/person, 4+ people/company
This course will provide the building inspector with an awareness of asbestos, its health hazards and how they relate to the building occupants. It will focus on understanding building systems, bulk sampling, and assessment and inspection techniques for locating “trouble spots”.
Criterion Laboratories, Inc. has provided a full range of environmental monitoring and analysis services since 1986. Our Training Division was developed to help individuals become aware of environmental hazards and to prepare them to meet local, state and federal requirements as workers, supervisors, building inspectors, planners and designers. Both initial training and refresher courses are offered.
Class Information
All classes are open to the public.
We strongly encourage advance registration. If you arrive without registration, we will gladly accomodate you as space permits. Class sizes ARE limited. Sometimes a class may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. We can only notify you if you are registered for that class. A registration form can be requested or downloaded from the link at the bottom of this page. We accept VISA and Mastercard . Payment in full is required no later than the 1st day of
class. Alternative class dates, including evenings and weekends, may be arranged with a company’s five-student commitment. Three weeks advance notice is usually required for an alternative date. Interested parties may call the Training Division to schedule a course date. If you have a group of 12 or more, please contact us if you would like an "on-site" class!
Cancellation and Substitutions
You may designate another person to take your place at any time prior to the beginning of class.Cancellations: 6-working days or less before the course will be subject to a 20% cancellation fee. If no notification is received, there will be a 50% cancellation fee. Criterion reserves the right to cancel any course without advance notice or to refuse an
application for registration for any course due to over-subscription or circumstances beyond its control or for any other reason.
Accreditation
Initial and Refresher Lead Abatement Worker and Supervisor courses are approved by PADOLI; new Lead Renovator courses are EPA-approved; Project Monitor courses are NYSDOH-approved; Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor and Asbestos Worker/Handler Initial and Refreshers are PADOLI-, NYSDOH- and NJDHSS-approved; Asbestos Building Inspector, Asbestos Management Planner and Asbestos Project Designer courses are PADOLI-approved. Per reciprocity rules - successful completion of these courses may allow graduates to apply for a license in the following states: PA, NJ, NY, DE, MD, WVA, DC, VA, CT, MA, VT, NH, ME.
